【摘要】:NOTE1ThisclausedefinesthescopeofthisInternationalstandard.Itshouldnotbeconfusedwiththeconceptof"scope"definedin3.16,whichonlyappliesinthecontextofTopicMaps.Topicmapsenablemultiple,concurrentviewsofsetsofinformationobjects.Thestructuralnatureoftheseviewsisunconstrained;theymayreflectanobjectorientedapproach,ortheymayberelational,hierarchical,ordered,unordered,oranycombinationoftheforegoing.Moreover,anunlimitednumberoftopicmapsmaybeoverlaidonagivensetofinformationresources.Topicmapscanbeused:—Toqualifythecontentand/ordatacontainedininformationobjectsastopicstoenablenavigationaltoolssuchasindexes,cross-references,citationsystems,orglossaries.—Tolinktopicstogetherinsuchawayastoenablenavigationbetweenthem.Thiscapabilitycanbeusedforvirtualdocumentassembly,andforcreatingthesaurus-likeinterfacestocorpora,knowledgebases,etc.—Tofilteraninformationsettocreateviewsadaptedtospecificusersorpurposes.Forexample,suchfilteringcanaidinthemanagementofmultilingualdocuments,managementofaccessmodesdependingonsecuritycriteria,deliveryofpartialviewsdependingonuserprofilesand/orknowledgedomains,etc.—Tostructureunstructuredinformationobjects,ortofacilitatethecreationoftopic-orienteduserinterfacesthatprovidetheeffectofmergingunstructuredinformationbaseswithstructuredones.Theoverlaymechanismoftopicmapscanbeconsideredasakindofexternalmarkupmechanism,inthesensethatanarbitrarystructureisimposedontheinformationwithoutalteringitsoriginalform.ThisInternationalStandarddoesnotrequireordisallowtheuseofanyschemeforaddressinginformationobjects.ExceptfortherequirementthattopicmapdocumentsthemselvesbeexpressedusingSGML(orWebSGML)andHyTime,usingthesyntaxdescribedherein,neitherdoesitrequireordisallowtheuseofanynotationusedtoexpressinformation.
